He's Back

The frog from last night is back. And, he's on the exact same fence post so I just had to take another pic...

Here's a funny story from today. It should give you a glimpse of what Cavite is like:

Ed's been searching for a used car to buy for his wife. A couple of nights ago he saw a good deal and called the seller. As it happens the car was in Cavite so we checked it out during the weekend. Everything seemed okay, and Ed was convinced this was the best deal. So, we met up with the seller in a mall parking lot. They signed the deeds, counted the cash and the deal was done. Before leaving, the seller (a 20+ yr old) got all his things from the car. Along with this was a gun. Yes, a gun. And he was commuting back! With a gun and a couple hundred thousand pesos! What more is that he didn't go straight home, as we watched him leave, he headed for the mall. The guards did the usual frisking and just let him in, gun and all. Dang.

Just another day in Cavite...

These are the Creatures in your Neighborhood

This was a slow weekend. No shoot, no event. It's been getting really hot and humid lately. I just stayed home mostly. Luckily I noticed a frog on the fence. Subject Alert! There isn't a lot to shoot around the apartment in Cavite (unlike Baguio). Here are pics from both.

Holy Week End

I headed up to Baguio for Holy Week. It was great to be up there again, and it wasn't as busy as the Flower Fest. I got to meet up with old bandmates, surf buds and family.

I didn't get much pics from this weekend. These are some of the few...

Oh yeah, I received a copy of the jingle we recorded a couple of weeks ago. The mixing is great. But still, you don't expect a company jingle to sound like EVH's Eruption. If you wanna check it out email / sms / ym / pm / call me. :D

Session at Spin Studios

Today I got to fulfill a childhood dream, to be able to record in a "real" studio. We were at Spin Studios today to record one song and it took us 7 hours to lay all the tracks down including a little arrangement work. The final mixing and mastering will be done on another day. Working with studio pros was intimidating at first but then turned out great. They were very helpful and kept the atmosphere light, friendly and fun. These guys were so energetic, you could really see how passionate they are about music. That's one thing I enjoy about certain people, their passion for stuff they do or love. That's how I am too I guess.

It was a tiring day, but a very fulfilling one. This is one day I'm sure to remember...

Need

Have you noticed that you don't really absorb every single thing somebody teaches you but when you really need to learn you retain so much it amazes you?

Well, as my photography gets (a bit) better, my post processing has to keep up. I needed a different / improved /refined approach to some of my processing and looked up several techniques (thank you internet!). I then revisited several photos which I thought were unusable and looked if could salvage some.

Here are a couple:

Surprise Shoot in Amadeo

Last Sunday we were planning to shoot the Pahimis Coffee Festival in Amadeo. Early Sunday morning I received a text message to head to Balete Resort for a photo contest. We didn't really care about the competition, we just wanted to shoot.

After driving back and forth for an hour or so, we finally found the resort. Parts were still being constructed so we headed down to the river to start shooting. As we walked around, we bumped into some locals and were informed of the the resort across the river. Piecing the bits of info we picked up from the locals and other photographers that day, I think the resort belonged to the mayor and was now being renovated to be open to the public.

Here are a few pics:
