Picker Upper

It was just another drive to work when Delvin Mamot (not his real name), upon reaching the parking space, decided to rev the car before shutting it down. This isn't unusual, except, you usually do this with the handbrake on and with the shifter in neutral (manual) or park (automatic). He was chatting with Ferry dela Guente (not his real name) when he revved the car and thus catapulted over the parking barrier and on to the side walk. By this time I'm guessing his blood pressure shot up, adrenalin was pumping and was still trying to figure out WTF happened. One moment he's parking and another he's over the barrier, giving a new meaning to multi-level parking.

We of course helped out and got the car out of this mess before 9am. That sure beats coffee in the morning.

Well, as expected the jokes just started pouring in. Here are a few one liners:
A small step for me....
The eagle has landed
Multi level parking
Space saving Parking Scheme
Breaking Barriers
Non conformist
Friends don't let friends drive on GRASS

Disclaimer: No japanese cars were hurt during this incident. Egos maybe , but not cars.

Stress and Strain

Aaahhh.

I finally get to relax a bit. There've been a bit too much on my mind and it's been stressing me out - Internal transfer negotiations, a Badminton tournament, Battle of the Bands, the sale of the beetle, project recovery plans and a few other items on the side.

Internal transfer - approved
Badminton tournament - 4th place (not bad)
Battle of the Bands - ongoing practices
Sale of the beetle - finalizing the sale tomorrow
Project recovery plans - ongoing

At least, 3 of the 5 major items are done, and had favorable results. Now I can breathe.

I've been listening more to the Wolfmother album (thanks Nash) and some songs have similar riffs, chords or feels to other classic rock songs. Here are some I've noted:

White Unicorn - Light My Fire by The Doors
Witchcraft - N.I.B by Black Sabbath
Pyramid - N.I.B., Paranoid, Iron Man, and Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Dimension - Purple Haze (Lyrics) by Jimi Hendrix, Space Trucking (Riff) by Deep Purple, Sweet Leaf (Chorus) by Black Sabbath

I miss The Backyard...
