Ram and Rain

It was another regular weekend. Just met up with a seller for RAM upgrades, happened to pass by a potential 3rd project?!? car (still looking around though), bought a few magazines, and watched a coupled of DVD's (Rent and Grind). I still have a long list of stuff to watch. Can anybody lend me a copy of Billabong Odyssey? I saw the trailer and it looked great.

It's been raining continuously these past weeks. That should be expected, it's monsoon season. And yet there hasn't been a decent swell (at least according to the forecasts). I hope something come our way. Ah, it going to be a cold, wet week again. I don't mind the cold part, it's the wet part I don't like. Especially around these areas where gooey greenish black water is commonplace. Good thing it isn't that bad in Cavite yet.

Fete dela Musique / Backyard Sessions

June 30: Fete dela Musique
- Our celebration was a week late, the world celebration was on June 21. This event was held at the SM Mall of Asia and was, well, last minute organized. So, the info about the event wasn't that well spread. 3 Stages, 30 bands each, not bad! There were a lot of good bands and some even great. It's good to see how the music scene has conitnuously evolved.

July 08: Backyard Sessions
- The forecast promised at least 3 ft waves along Northwestern Luzon so I packed my bags and headed up to Baguio. 8am on Saturday morning, Aldrix and I met up at the bus station to catch the 9am trip to La Union. Everybody else found the weather a bit to stormy and decided to sit this one out. We were at the Backyard before lunch and it did not look promising. So, we decided to grab lunch first while deciding where to play. San Juan looked awfully choppy, as did The Pier. After a good meal of pork and black beans were ran out to check on the swell.

A slight swell was building up, and it looked like this was our only option for today. So we grabbed our gear (Josh: "I'd like to thank Jason for my shorts...") and headed out. The continuous rains resulted in a strong current from the river mouth so we paddled out along the area where the incoming swell was cancelling out the river's pressure (destructive interference: If the two waves are 180° out of phase, then one wave's crests will coincide with another wave's troughs and so will tend to cancel out. The resultant amplitude is A = | A1 − A2 | . If A1 = A2, the resultant amplitude will be zero).

After a few minutes with the swell not getting any bigger, Aldrix decided that the long board was the way to go. Ojie and I still continued paddling our asses off hoping to catch a few when Adlrix and his 8ft wave catching machine join us in the line up. Well, as expected, he got on every wave in sight. We later took turns on the long board until it was time to head home.

By 6pm we were at the Bacnotan Town proper waiting for my dad. We were riding with him to Baguio. Dad drops by in a new pickup and we all head home.
